This article is under construction to remove strange and out of place things like that crocodile and replace it with something better or to add information. So don't delete it if a stub until two months from now. That was some baad grammar.
"Sometimes, when I was a kid, I'd look at the stars and wonder if there was life up there. Turns out I was looking in the wrong direction."
Origin: Below the crust, in the mantle, is a depraved and hopeless ecosystem. Mutations and organisms beyond our wildest nightmares have been created in this lightless world. Creatures with no eyes, no legs, and no head reside in this area. This, is the Underworld.
But an upstart scientist group was about to upset the Underworld and the Overworld with their foolish discovery. Three scientists, straight from college, were obsessed with Geology. They were determined to be the first person to see and report the mantle. They would be the toast of the scientific community. So they tried and tried to get investors, but they failed to do so. But just as they were about to give up, an investor showed up and offered to invest in their research. He believed that there was oil below the crust, and he was going to get rich off it.
So they set off into the ground. They built a drilling device to dig through the surface, they stocked provisions, and they set off. And pretty soon they began to see strange occurrences. The sides of where they were drilling looked to be churning. There were caverns behind them that weren't there before. And then they punctured into the mantle. Their spotlights punctured the gloom, and they saw the Underworld. Crystals housing leech-like creatures, six-legged dog-like creatures, and other things too unspeakable to be mentioned.
But their spotlights caught the attention of something far more sinister. Within seconds, a giant monstrosity was below them. It was gnashing it's sideways teeth and opening up it's bone-like lids to reveal a mass of tentacles with spears on the ends. This light was new to it, and it terrified the creature. And he wanted it more than anything else. Needless to say, the scientists high-tailed it. But as the scientist were pulling out, they could hear the creature screaming, and lurching upward towards them. It bore through the rock after them, but it was getting farther and farther away from the escaping craft.
The machine reached the surface, and the scared scientists were babbling what had happened in the shaft. Their investor was confused, but the scientists ignored him and got in their van. The investor got in to chase after him.
Many miles later, a horrible screech pierced the air...
